You Are a Star – Speak Out!

A spiral in AndromedaThe other day one of my friends on social media shared a 2014 video of a tearful young North Korean woman who delivered a compelling account of her perilous journey to what she thought was freedom in China.  As they navigated by the night sky, Yeon-mi Park described how she felt that only the stars were with them. This is one of the feelings that oppressed or abused people deal with throughout their lives, because they have been separated from the harmony within that was meant to exist. In speaking out about the tragedy that she and others in her country have lived through, this brave young refugee exemplifies the need to talk about abusive experiences in order for self-healing to take place.

One thing that I’ve had to learn as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse is that I’ve had to deal with not only the self-destructive feelings in the aftermath of the abuse, but also with the physical repercussions of feeling isolated from everyone else in my life. My own experience, although not nearly as tragic as Yeon-mi’s, once brought me to the same place: looking up at the stars and wondering if anyone anywhere even cared about me.

One thing about keeping secrets is that, for the purpose of keeping someone else’s confidence, such promises ‘not to tell anyone’ are proper morals in our society. However, when someone has abused you and threatened you not to tell anyone, the corrosive nature of that twisted confidentiality gradually eats away at you from within. Too many people are walking around today, like I used to, with self-destructive tendencies because of the shameful secrets of victimization that have led to withdrawal, depression, self-medication and uncharacteristic behavior.

We survivors of abuse must speak out, because it’s the only way to stop the deterioration 0105-4x5color.aiof our being and start the healing process. We did nothing wrong, but bear the shame and guilt of having been violated, often by the people we were supposed to have trusted most. Unless we break through the fear and finally tell a friend, family member or seek professional help, the hurt will keep festering away within. Not only does the aftermath of abuse cause emotional and mental difficulty and ongoing trauma to our bodies, it also impacts our spiritual selves in a vicious cycle of pernicious negativity. Fortunately I found a way to work within with my spirit, so that I was able to stop the cycle to regain my self-esteem, dignity and self-heal over time.

It’s clear that, no matter how difficult it is to come forward, we must speak out loudly against abuse and oppression, so that depravity and corruption of power can be exposed and curtailed. And equally as important, instead of being judgmental, we must listen to others and be understanding of their experience. Otherwise, at the planetary and personal levels, we could all be complicit in allowing such atrocities to continue to happen to the world’s children.

The next time you look up at the stars, realize that you’re not the only one who has gazed upon them either in wonderment or for solace – we are all stars in the mesh of humanity!

Withstand

Trimmed TreesWhen we consider that our spirits are an essential aspect of our being, we can engage their energy and timeless knowledge to enhance our lives. As we proceed through life, we can each stand with our spirit as we constantly adapt at all levels to the ever-changing circumstances of our life experience.

Throughout our lives there will always be challenges to confront yet, if we work to refuse and eliminate negativity as it presents itself, we can more easily glide into balance at all levels. Although some of us continue to struggle with the ongoing aftermath that earlier neglect, bullying or abuse has inflicted upon our wellbeing, we can effectively reduce the negative baggage we carry by refusing its influence properly.

As we cope and deal with emotional turmoil as it erupts from time to time, we can take steps toward limiting the impact of its residual negativity upon our wellbeing.

The learning and implementation of fundamental spiritual principles can help you become aware of and counteract higher-level negativity, so you can get on a positive footing in stride with the highest part of your being.

As we learn to withstand and deal with all the negativity that attempts to undermine our efforts to enjoy our lives, we can move through life with a much lighter step. Once you let go of the negative tendencies you’ve grown accustomed to accepting as part of your burden, you’ll realize that you had been allowing it to weigh you down, rather than releasing its friction.

Sensational Self-Esteem

hs-2005-12-e-full_jpg.jpg Eagle Nebula, M16, NGC 6611, IC 4703#4 on my list of “10 Reasons to Work With Your Spirit”…

Our individual uniqueness is the most incredible part of our physical existence.  As diverse as the heavenly bodies in the cosmos, we truly are a remarkable menagerie on our planet!

As children we naturally love ourselves and celebrate how different we are from everyone else.  However, many of us suffer from bullying or abuse as children and, for the rest of our lives, we struggle to deal with the consequences at all levels of our being.

Once we’ve been bullied or abused, we have to go through the mental and emotional processes that result from the events that occurred.  We suffer in silence and struggle to fit in, as the lingering negative memories deteriorate our ability to exercise self-love.

In the meantime, we aren’t even aware that we’ve accepted higher-level influences that interfere with our relationship with our spirit.  The early onset of spiritual negativity can attract a continuous stream of negativity over our lifetime that causea the self-imposition of ever-deteriorating self-esteem.

By working with your spirit, you’ll view your precious self in much more positive terms!  You’ll understand that the ongoing interference that was causing you to think less of yourself was nurtured by the negativity that you had been accumulating over the course of your lifetime.

Once you start refusing and counteracting higher-level negativity, your efforts will have a trickle-down effect that continually refreshes your enthusiasm for your individuality.  Your positive thoughts and emotions will become the norm and positive energy will emanate throughout all levels of your being.

You can sensationalize your self-esteem by allowing yourself to… hs-2013-43-a-web

Thank Yourself for Being You!

peachtreewpSome of us think that our lives are destined to be mediocre, that we have no power to bring ourselves into a level of being that makes us feel more competent, complete and appreciated.

Why do we feel like we’re lost in our everyday struggles, oblivious to the parts of ourselves that could be helpful?  We just sort of amble along, hoping that something will miraculously change and bring us the kind of dynamic life that we think we’re craving.  If that sounds like you, then you’re ready to stir up some changes in your life!

Years ago when I was worrying and feeling helpless about my life, I started looking for something that would create changes at a level that weren’t addressed by traditional remedies.  When I found out about working with my spirit and the Light*, I suddenly became invigorated with the possibilities that my life actually presented.

When you choose to open a positive pathway into your higher-level capabilities, you’ll become more aware of the factors that block access to your inherent talents.  A great deal of the interference that diminishes your self-esteem and creativity originates at the higher level of your being.

What if you’ve been creating the higher-level factors that contribute to such interference because you’ve been accepting and reinforcing your own negative conceptions about yourself? What if you’ve been creating and attracting additional negativity because of those thoughts?  Is it possible that other people pick up on your lack of confidence and low self-esteem, in the same way that you pick up on the over-inflated attitudes of some very self-absorbed people? One thing’s for certain: You’re never going to please everyone all the time, and you have to accept that as part of being human.

Monkey Puzzle Tree

At one time I was shy and afraid of what others might think of me but, once I started to work with my spirit, my self-perspective changed.  I always learn from my interactions with others, whether their opinion appears important or not.

The other day, while I was out for a walk, I stopped to greet a dog on a leash that came running up to me.  The owner immediately started to apologize for her pet, but I assured her that I always welcome such greetings.  The owner told me that her dog never stops to greet anyone, ever.  I considered it a compliment to have such a discerning animal set me apart for a greeting, as though it was her acknowledgment of my harmony within.

How can you begin to accept yourself the way you are, so that you can feel comfortable about being the person you truly are inside?  That’s what self esteem’s  all about!  When you start to love yourself and believe in yourself, you’ll suddenly realize your positive qualities and allow them to flow outward into the world.

As you look at yourself from a positive perspective, accept yourself, then thank yourself and take it from there!
